On lots of new building developments stocks of worms have been driven off by heavy machines and building work. Also the top soil of some of these new gardens have been taken away and been replaced by clay sub soils, which has come from house footings and other building work etc.  

  The worms convert the top 12” of these clay soils into top soils. They will also  improve drainage their burrowing opens channels which helps plants roots to grow, these also help  regulate the water content in sandy soils and help drain wet and water logged gardens, but also bring moisture to dry gardens. Lots of these gardens with heavy clay soil can take decades to make a good layer of top soil, and some never do.

  Worms are used to rejuvenate football rugby cricket pitches they work well on these and garden lawns without having to take the drastic action of trenching.

  Worms were also used on the Eden project, 10 were used in a 6” deep hole every square yard. There can not be a better way to do this job.
